The Uruguay international has been unable to sustain his strong start to life in England from last season, and now, he seems set to make his return to Italian football – with one notable club that is interested being AC Milan.

Speaking to Soccer Saturday (via ), the 30-year-old said trophies do help in boosting the ratings of a player, but he also pointed out that there were many truly great players in the history of the game that didn t win any.

Prior to his arrival to North London, Aubameyang helped Saint-Etienne win the French League Cup in 2012/13 and after moving to Borussia Dortmund the following summer he was a big part of the teams that won the DFB Supercup that year, as well as in 2014. He also helped them win the 2017 DFB-Pokal.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn lauded the career of Franck Ribery as one of the greatest in football after the Frenchman announced his retirement.

On Friday, Ribery ended a 22-year career that saw him represent the likes of Metz, Galatasaray, Marseille, Fiorentina and Salernitana.

The 39-year-old spent the bulk of his career at Bayern, though, where he won nine Bundesliga titles in 12 years.
