Odemwinge makes Bristol City switch

Bristol City have signed Peter Odemwinge from Stoke City for the remainder of the season, .

The Championship club have brought in the Nigeria international as they fight for their second-tier lives, with the Robins just two points clear of the drop zone with ten games to play.

Odemwinge moved to Stoke from Cardiff City in January 2014 and has so far racked up thirty-one appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring five goals.

However, he has made just five league outings so far this season and hasn’t featured at all since playing in the 3-0 defeat to Everton early last month.

The thirty-four year old moved to England in August 2010 when he signed for West Bromwich Albion, where he spent three seasons before being transferred to Cardiff.

Poor De Boer – Frank´s Crystal Palace misadventure in numbers

Frank de Boer leaves Crystal Palace without a goal or a point to his name in what is sure to go down as one of the most infamous managerial stints in Premier League history.

The 47-year-old won four Eredivisie titles in charge of Ajax but lasted only four games at Selhurst Park – making his the shortest reign in terms of games for a manager in the Premier League.

He takes this dubious record away from Les Reed, the current Southampton director of football, who was in and out in the space of six weeks and seven matches at Charlton Athletic.

Sammy Lee has served as assistant to De Boer at Palace and might have a word or two of advice, given he comes in next on this list after leading Bolton Wanderers to one win in 11 outings in 2007 – the same amount of games e…

´Incredible´ escape must be last survival scrap, says Mannone

Vito Mannone hailed Sunderland s escape act after the club secured Premier League safety, but urged them to avoid being in the same position in the seasons to come.

Sam Allardyce s men beat Everton 3-0 on Wednesday to complete a dramatic revival and send bitter rivals Newcastle United into the Championship along with Norwich City and Aston Villa.

It is becoming a common theme for the Black Cats to narrowly stay up, having failed to surpass 40 points since the 2011-12 campaign – though they will do so this term with a final-day win over Watford.

Goalkeeper Mannone enjoyed the side s midweek heroics at the Stadium of Light, but would rather avoid a repeat.

We ve done something incredible, the 28-year-old told BBC Newcastle.

But we ve got to lea…

Jokanovic rejects Guardiola comparisons

Slavisa Jokanovic has rejected suggestions Fulham are seeking to copy Manchester City s style.

After losing their first two matches on their Premier League return, Fulham bounced back by beating Burnley and draw at Brighton and Hove Albion.

They face a sterner test on Saturday when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to face champions City, a team to whom Fulham have been compared due to their commitment to possession football.

However, Jokanovic said comparisons between him and City boss Pep Guardiola are wide of the mark.

I don t use his style, I use my style and my players, Jokanovic told a news conference.

We cannot compare, he s one of the most successful managers, he showed similar style and it s possible to play the way his team [do] in th…

AC Milan v Juventus: The stats behind one of Serie A´s most historic fixtures

There are only a handful of clubs in the world that are steeped in as much history as Juventus and AC Milan, two of Serie A s crown jewels.

Between them they have claimed 51 Scudetti, while there have been countless memorable clashes involving the clubs down the years.

Milan may be enduring a difficult season, but both have squads full of talented players, adding to a long list of superstars to have graced this fixture.

With Juve heading to San Siro on Saturday hoping to inflict further misery on the under-pressure Vincenzo Montella and big-spending Milan, we look at the history of the match-up with the help of Opta.

Top scorers

No current players are in the top five for either club, with Alessandro Del Piero (7) and Andriy Shevchenko…

Serie A fixtures: Bologna first, Atalanta last for Ibrahimovic and Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will provide Bologna with a close-up view of what might have been when Milan begin their Serie A campaign at home on September 20.

The Swedish veteran penned a one-year extension at San Siro this week having previously been linked to a move to Sinisa Mihajlovic s side.

Ibrahimovic s decision will have been swayed in part by a sensational finish to the previous campaign, which saw Milan go unbeaten in 13 games across all competitions when football in Italy resumed after the suspension amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Milan will aim to build on that form, which yielded a sixth-place finish, during a favourable-looking opening that sees home games with Bologna and Spezia sandwich a trip a Crotone, though the derby with Inter and a clash against Roma…

Swansea City 0 Bournemouth 0: Clement´s men end losing streak but remain in bottom three

Swansea City ended a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats with an uninspiring 0-0 draw against Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium.

The result is unlikely to ease the pressure on manager on Paul Clement, whose side now face daunting trips to Chelsea and Stoke City in the next week.

The under-fire manager will be left to rue Wilfried Bony s disallowed goal on the stroke of half-time, but neither side did enough to win a game desperately lacking in quality.

Ivory Coast international Bony whipped a wonderful effort in off the underside of the crossbar, but his celebrations were cut short by referee Stuart Attwell, who deemed Jordan Ayew s challenge on Nathan Ake in the build-up to be too aggressive.

Leroy Fer squandered a glorious opportunity …

Real Madrid 2 Real Valladolid 0: Solari lucky to secure winning start in LaLiga

Real Madrid escaped from a largely uninspiring display with two late goals securing a fortuitous 2-0 win over Real Valladolid in Santiago Solari s first LaLiga match in charge.

Vinicius Junior came off the bench to force an own goal off Kiko Olivas in the 83rd minute before Sergio Ramos ensured the European champions finished a poor showing on an upbeat note with a penalty five minutes later.

Valladolid had rattled the crossbar twice in the second half and will count themselves highly unfortunate not to have further opened the wounds inflicted during last weekend s El Clasico humiliation.

Solari, who replaced the sacked Julen Lopetegui following that 5-1 loss, presided over a 4-0 Copa del Rey victory over third-tier Melilla in the first match of his caretaker …

Prediction: Napoli vs Juventus

Verdict: Draw

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Serie A leaders Napoli and reigning champions Juventus will be involved in a classic title-race six-pointer at Stadio San Paolo, with many believing the two teams will ultimately decide the new champions. The Azzurri definitely have the psychological advantage as they are four points in front, but the Bianconeri should not be underestimated.

Napoli

Even if there were some bumps in the road early on, Maurizio Sarri has really transformed the Napoli side, who are now seen by many as the main candidates for the league trophy. The Azzurri are arguably the Europe’s most exciting side at the moment, with the attacking trio Callejon, Mertens, Insigne making life difficult for the opposition defenders. Oddly enough, Napol…

Roma release statement after assault allegations against coach

Roma have released a statement in response to allegations made against a member of their coaching staff following Thursday s Europa Conference League defeat at Bodo/Glimt.

The statement explains the club has provided assistance to UEFA and local authorities after it was alleged that Giallorossi goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos assaulted Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen in the tunnel after the Norwegian side s 2-1 quarter-final first leg win.

Knutsen claimed Santos grabbed him by the neck and pushed him against a wall during the altercation.

A statement released by the Serie A club on Friday read: AS Roma would like to note that, following the conclusion of the match on Thursday evening, club directors and other members of the coaching staff remained at the Aspmyra …
